FCS established its financial planning program in 2008. This program has been approved by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP® Board) since its inception and, more recently, by AFCPE® (Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education). The financial planning curriculum includes an official university emphasis and an interdisciplinary certificate program. FCS is an interdisciplinary department dedicated to understanding and enhancing the well-being of individuals and the families and communities in which they live. We examine how the social, economic, political, and physical environments affect families, individuals, and consumers. The faculty includes scholars from sociology, demography, economics, psychology, family studies, human development, early childhood education, and city planning. The University of Utah is a PAC-12, Carnegie RU/VH research university and Utah’s flagship university. The successful candidate should be committed to working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
