Position Overview

  • The Financial Planner is a specialist, offering services, such as plan creation, plan presentation, plan updates, and meeting coordination, to the firm's relationship managers.
  • The Financial Planner joins the existing Adviser Investments Financial Planning Team. Our planners focus on consistent approaches, sharing best-practices, and coordinating planning efforts.
  • The Financial Planner contributes to our library of client-facing content, including white papers, case studies, podcasts, and virtual/in-person client events. Our content library highlights the team's and each individual's expertise.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Initiate and handle all aspects (data gathering, analysis, presentation, and follow-up) of client financial plans in partnership with the client’s relationship manager.
  • Provide clear, succinct, and actionable planning recommendations to clients during in-person, Zoom, or telephone meetings and in writing
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial planning strategies
  • Contribute to the firm’s content library as directed by the Manager of Financial Planning

Traits of a Successful Candidate
A successful financial planner at Adviser Investments has four key traits.

1.Intellectual Curiosity:

  • This individual strives to be “the CFP’s CFP.” So, an ongoing interest in learning and applying the latest financial planning strategies for our clients is essential in this role.

2. Technical Proficiency:

  • A successful candidate is able to quickly learn and use our planning "tech stack" (Salesforce, eMoney, SSAnalyzer, and a variety of custom tools for pension, tax, and estate analysis) in accordance with our financial planning best practices and workflow.

3. Communication Skills

  • Technical competence, alone, will not be adequate for this role. Asuccessful candidate is comfortable distilling complex information into digestible insights forrelationship managers, clients, and other stakeholders. They bring the utmost professionalism andpolish to every interaction.

4.Intrinsic Motivation

  • A successful candidate is an “intrapreneur” with the ability to thoughtfully balance multiple priorities and tasks. Rather than waiting around for assignments, a successful candidate is proactive about finding ways to add-value for the firm and for clients.

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree (BA or BS) is required. Advanced degrees are a plus.
  • CFP® certification required. (However, an otherwise highly regarded applicant that needs only sit for the CFP® exam would be considered.)
  • 3-5 years’ experience as a financial planner or in a similar role.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint) (at a minimum, proficient means knowing how to use track changes, usage of Excel formulas, and use of styles).
  • Prior experience with Salesforce, Wealthscape, and eMoney preferred.
