WE TRANSFORM LIVES.

Everything we do is designed to improve the quality of life of the people in the state of Illinois, across the nation, and around the world. We discover, develop, translate, and disseminate knowledge to address societal concerns and train the next generation of experts and leaders in a way that empowers them to expand the boundaries of science to higher levels of understanding and influence.

Within the College of ACES you will join a team of 190 tenure-system faculty members; nearly 1,400 academic professionals, civil service staff, and assistants; 2,800 undergraduates; and 750 graduate students each year. The College of ACES is a remarkable community of faculty, staff and students who are striving to meet the critical challenges of our time. We’re proud to report our four-year graduation rate (74%) is the highest in the nation among comparable programs, according to US News & World Report, and is more than double the national average for public universities (33%, according to the U.S. Department of Education). In fact, an impressive 87% of our alumni are in the workforce or graduate school within six months of graduation.

We have nearly 36,000 living alumni and raise approximately $30 million annually in private support from individuals, corporations, and foundations. Our annual expenditures from all sources are more than $160 million. ACES plays a key role in national and international research initiatives in bioenergy, biotechnology, integrated landscapes, environmental sustainability, food and agricultural systems, global climate change, family resiliency, public policy, and much more.

The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Economics (ACE) is searching for an outstanding candidate for a teaching-track/clinical faculty position to teach, design courses and help develop our growing financial planning concentration.  We are seeking to fill an academic professional appointment (9-month service basis paid over 12 months), with the possibility of summer appointments. Multi-year employment contracts may be available.

The successful candidate will: teach required courses and electives in our financial planning curriculum; work with the Financial Planning Program Director and Department Head to develop and grow an innovative financial planning curriculum; coordinate and coach students at financial planning competitions; attend and mentor students at financial planning professional and association conferences; participate in the strategic growth of the department and program; teach four to five classes in the program per academic year and create a biannual inventive elective; continue to develop the program’s online presence and content portfolio.

Open Track/Open Rank Specialized Faculty: Teaching experience and strong evaluations are required. For the instructional dimension of the position, candidates who hold a Master’s degree will be considered as an Instructor or Sr. Instructor depending on experience and qualifications. Candidates with an earned Ph.D and instructional experience by the time of appointment may be considered as a Lecturer, Sr. Lecturer, Teaching Assistant Professor, or Teaching Associate Professor depending on their instructional and curricular records and potential to provide curricular, online and pedagogical leadership. Candidate must have a CFP® designation.
