The FP&A Analyst will partner with the Development team to support the donor financial reporting program and provide restricted funds analyses. They will collaborate with the FP&A Manager to build out and maintain organizational reports and metrics for various stakeholders and will help synthesize insights and trends from large data sets to inform financial decision-making. 

Responsibilities:

Donor Budgeting and Reporting (70%)

  • Produce grant and donor budgets, and analyses to support funding proposals.
  • Run interim and final funding reports; analyze and explain variances.
  • Maintain hours data model, reviewing for data accuracy and completeness.
  • Analyze tagging of matters to ensure accurate coding to reportable topics.
  • Update internal webpage with current reporting information and standard donor materials to support inter-departmental collaboration.
  • Collaborate and partner with the Development department to ensure donor budgeting and reporting meets their needs
  • Create and maintain donor reporting schedule to reflect gift reporting requirements.

Financial Analysis, Reporting & Metrics (30%)

  • Maintain short and long-term forecasting models; including but not limited to cashflows, and revenues.
  • Track periodic financial performance and KPIs, analyze data and identify trends.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for leadership to support financial decision making and planning.
  • Report and track internal funding levels for major restrictions.
  • Support and participate in organizational projects and initiatives by providing financial planning and analysis.
  • Other analyses as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
  • At least three years of professional related experience in finance or accounting positions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key accounting and budget principles as well as comprehensive experience with Excel is essential (i.e. pivot tables, vlookups, and manipulating data from multiple sources to identify trends and build reports).
  • Experience with financial systems (Netsuite), CRMs (Blackbaud) and reporting tools (Microsoft PowerBI) is strongly preferred. 
  • Excellent communication skills are required, as is a strong partnership orientation and the ability to work cooperatively with different personalities and financial aptitudes across the organization.
  • Superior analytical and organizational skills are required, as are strong attention to detail, good recordkeeping, responsible time management, and the ability to juggle many projects and deadlines at once.
  • Process oriented with ability to see opportunities for improvement.
  • Non-profit experience and a passion for the Earthjustice mission are preferred.
  • Demonstrates an awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds and orientations.
  • Contributes to the creation of a diverse, equitable and inclusive work culture that encourages and celebrates differences.

Salary is dependent on experience and location.
