Position Summary:
The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians is a federally recognized Indian tribe (Band) with offices at 58620 Sink Road, Dowagiac, Michigan 49047. The Band is seeking to engage an independent contractor with Registered Investment Adviser credentials to assist the Band in monitoring and evaluating the services provided by asset management and banking partners. In addition, assist in special projects that help the Band achieve its financial goals. The firm/individual selected will not directly provide asset management services and/or banking services.

Native American Preference:
The Pokagon Band Preference Code will be followed.

Services Requested:
A. Provide monthly status report on investment portfolios.
B. Manage quarterly review process with investment managers and trustee.
C. Provide regular updates on the economy and financial markets.
D. Participate in Finance Board meetings twice a month. In person attendance is
preferred.
E. Evaluate manager performance and adherence to investment policy statements.
F. Educate Finance Board on financial topics on as needed basis.
G. Monitor and work with banking partners with respect to treasury management, credit facilities and other services.
H. Work with other tribal subsidiaries as requested.
I. Monitor existing credit facility.
J. Prepare financial requests for proposal as directed by Finance Board.
K. Monitor costs associated with all asset management/banking services and
negotiate, if necessary, a competitive and equitable fee arrangement.
L. Work with Master Custodian, Independent Trustee, Pension Plan and 401K
Providers to meet the needs of the Band.
M. Assist the Band in monitoring the Pokagon Deferred Per Capita Savings and
Minors Trust. Provide enhancements if necessary.
N. Provide Band entities with updates on financial issues and developments
that may impact their lines of business.
O. Participate in tribal meetings requested by Band entities.
P. Participate in national conferences that have an impact on Indian Country.
Q. Assist Government Manager & Director of Accounting with projects as
requested.

Qualifications:
The firm/individual must be a Registered Investment Adviser and individual assigned to this relationship must have the minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with emphasis on Business, Finance or related field. Knowledge of the banking industry and the financial planning field is required. Direct professional work experience with Native American clients is preferred.
