About the role: The Financial Advisor serves in an Associate and/or Lead role in assigned client relationships. The Associate Advisor delivers proactive wealth management to assigned clients in coordination with, and guidance from, Lead Advisors.  A Lead Advisor has experience handling complex client transactions, implementing investment and financial planning strategies, and conducting client meetings. Over time, the Financial Advisor may participate in client service operations, investment management, and business development committees in order to develop a deep understanding of these areas and to support firm needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Advisor:

  • Deliver proactive wealth management experience and financial planning advice to assigned clients in a professional manner, with attention to detail, and oversight from Lead Advisors, or in partnership with Senior Advisors. Support the delivery of wealth management services by thoroughly completing client meeting prep, presenting and taking notes in meetings, updating CRM and other systems as needed, and coordinating completion of all tasks. Ensure proactive scheduling of meetings with assigned clients, and attention to all major areas of financial planning, including investments, retirement, estate, insurance, charitable, education, tax, and other planning areas appropriate for client circumstances. Prepare financial plan drafts, gather information from clients, and enter data in planning software. Prepare other planning analysis for clients as needed, including insurance, pension, estate, tax, etc. Review and coordinate with Lead and/or Senior Advisor as needed. Manage all tax reporting for assigned clients, including downloading and reviewing 1099s and other tax documents and information, reconciling missing information and discrepancies, and forwarding documents to client’s tax professionals. Update and ensure accuracy of information in CRM for data related to: client account details, financial planning, and professional contacts. Coordinate with Portfolio Management, Associate Advisor, and Client Service teams to ensure action items are thoroughly executed and documented. Collaborate with outside professionals as needed.

Portfolio Administration

  • Analyze prospective client portfolios. Understand all aspects of ongoing management of portfolios for assigned clients. Review proposed and processed trades, and ensure portfolios are managed according to internal guidelines and processes, including the Investment Management Manual. Conduct monthly reviews of assigned clients in portfolio accounting system, including set up and ongoing maintenance of accounts & portfolios, targets, benchmarks, and rebalance settings.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Ability to work on multiple complex projects and adapt to changing priorities Self-starter, can independently plan and organize one’s own activities. A passion for relationship building; excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work well with clients and all levels of internal leadership and staff. Highly detail-oriented, able to multitask and results-oriented. Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications. Tech-savvy; proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications, including Word and Excel.

Experience & Education:

  • BA/BS degree required, with course work demonstrating analytical ability; financial planning, economics, accounting, or engineering preferred. CFP® credentials achieved. Minimum 4+ years of financial experience in a professional setting. Experience with CRM, financial planning software, and portfolio accounting software. Considerable knowledge of the principles of investments and modern portfolio theory. Values continued education and technical expertise.
