Job description
Breakwater Investment Management, an independent boutique financial planning and investment advisory practice, is seeking a full-time, kind, proactive Associate Advisor in Seattle, WA to join us in our mission of helping clients achieve their financial goals. This is your chance to play a key role in the future success of our organization! This is a full-time job. The hours can be flexible but are generally market or business hours Monday through Friday.
As a Registered Investment Advisor, Breakwater is seeking a self-motivated individual to work directly with our clients and fellow staff to provide world-class, white-glove service. This position is a great opportunity for you to begin or continue your career in personal finance/wealth management and grow your client base. This is not a sales job, nor does it require cold calling. It does require a can-do attitude, where everyone works together to achieve the firm’s goals.

Duties will include:
-Work closely with Lead Advisor and support staff.
-Establish new client relationships in addition to providing advisory services and support to existing clients.
-Attend and participate in meetings with prospects and existing clients.
-Develop and deliver financial recommendations and presentations to clients.
-Services client needs and requirements as determined through client interaction and via proactive communication.
-Provide prompt and friendly follow up to all client inquiries, needs, and requests.
-Manage advisory business implementation and re-balancing including recommending, executing, processing, and reconciling trading and other investment related transactions.
-Serve as a key liaison to other areas supporting the Business and its clients, including custodians and other professionals for the client when necessary (e.g. Attorneys, CPA’s, business valuation experts, etc.).
-Develop expertise of firm processes and advanced planning topics to add value to the firm.
-Engage in continuous learning in order to stay current in investment knowledge and skills.
-Adhere to all company and industry supervisory guidelines and policies.
-Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (required).
-Completion of CFP® coursework and/or intention to obtain CFP® designation within 3 years (required).
-Work in person in Denny Triangle neighborhood of Seattle (required) and remotely from home (optional).
-Puts clients’ interests first, always.

-Exercises discretion with respect to highly confidential/sensitive information.
-Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and interpersonal.
