The Relationship Manager (RM) is an implementer and will manage up to 150 relationships. They manage and support their assigned client relationships with leadership from the financial advisor (like a PA for a physician and a paralegal for an attorney). The RM will oversee client relationships within the firm and provide excellent, world-class service to ensure overall objectives are met related to clients’ financial goals and the firm’s business goals.
RM Specific Job Duties:
- Meet with clients on a regular basis to assess and determine their financial needs, identify their goals and what is most important to them, and remove obstacles to help them make progress toward their goals.
- Establish trust and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective clients.
- Deepen existing client relationships and acquire new prospective relationships that match the firm’s ideal client profile.
- Respond to client requests for information or service on their accounts.
- Work closely with the Atlantic Wealth Management team to provide ongoing consultation support and service for the firm’s clients.
- Leverage client relationships to source referrals, determine professional relationships (CPA, attorney, etc.), and develop centers of influence. Follow up on introductions to build new relationships to support the client and meet business development goals.
- Follow firm processes to ensure consistency across all operational areas.
- Make tactical portfolio and asset allocation recommendations consistent with the firm’s outlook and relative to changes in client goals and objectives as well as changes in the economic and business cycle; process trades in client accounts as needed.
- In coordination with the paraplanner, update financial plans for clients annually.
- Gather new information to help keep financial plans current; make recommendations for next steps in review meetings with clients.
- Review and provide regular market updates to clients.
- Communicate the team’s outlook and investment philosophy to current and prospective clients in review meetings.
- Attend annual client reviews with the financial advisor; provide leadership to clients at other meetings during the year.
- Facilitate preparation and oversee necessary tasks for annual client review meetings.
- Implement action steps from client review meetings and document all follow up.
- With direction from the financial advisor, determine the appropriate contact frequency for assigned clients; execute the contact management plan throughout the year.
- Independently make proactive outbound calls and communicate regularly with clients and prospective clients, sharing updates and strengthening client relationships
- Attend and complete all required training and continuing education as scheduled by firm partners and broker-dealer
- Perform other projects and duties as assigned by firm partners.
RM Qualifications
The qualified candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business (e.g. Business Administration, Finance, Accounting) and industry work experience preferred
- Proven track record of partnership within key centers of influence in the community
- Proven ability to build new and deepen existing client relationships as evidenced by increased client loyalty and goal achievement.
- Strong business acumen, including detailed analysis and review of financial statements and understanding of accounting and financial principles.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to build strong internal team partnerships to provide holistic solutions for clients.
- Proven track record of identification and understanding of client issues, problems, and opportunities and the ability to present effective solutions and recommendations.
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills, with emphasis on experience in face-to-face meetings and negotiations.
- Results-oriented and proven ability to work in a team-based environment.
- Ability to build trust by honoring commitments and making good impressions.
- Demonstrates self-starter work ethic and works well independently.
- Aptitude and attitude for the business; licensed in securities and insurance (Life and Health and Long-Term Care)
- Credentials and time spent in the business – ideal candidate will have at least 3 years’ experience serving clients.
- Heart of a servant and dedicated to caring for others’ needs – emotional intelligence.
- Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office software, have familiarity with prospecting and CRM sales tools preferred.
RM Accountability
- Strong client service experience
- Number of client contacts made during the year – both in person and via phone.
- Client retention and service score
- Expansion of financial relationship with assigned clients
- Adherence to investment strategy and process provided by the firm’s partners.
- Number of prospect meetings during the year and conversion from prospects to clients
RM Compensation
- Annual salary begins at $75k dependent upon experience
- Compensation is salary plus semi-annual bonus
