Overview

  • This is a W-2, full-time position with work hours of 8 AM – 5 PM (CST).
  • TNLPG is a remote-first company based in Chicago, IL, with quarterly in-person team meetings. We strongly prefer candidates who reside in or around the surrounding areas of Chicago.

  • $60,000 - $80,000 base salary commensurate with experience, licenses, and designations plus bonus opportunities.

About the Role

The essence of the Financial Planner Associate role:

  • Prepare for client meetings
  • Identify planning opportunities and generate advice
    • Build and stress test financial planning models
    • Review tax returns and generate tax projections
    • Review the client’s overall situation and generate recommendations
    • Prepare rebalancing recommendations for clients’ portfolios and place trades
  • Prepare proposals for prospects and full financial plans for new clients
  • Support lead advisors by attending client meetings, taking notes, and assisting with follow-up tasks
  • Complete financial planning department projects such as preparing tax emails for clients, processing RMDs, etc.

 

Career Progression

We currently envision the Planner Associate role as the second step in a career path toward becoming a Financial Planner.

  1. Financial Planning Analyst – Develops technical financial planning skills and knowledge.
  2. Financial Planner Associate – Translates technical skills and knowledge into financial planning advice.
  3. Financial Planner – Delivers financial planning advice to the client.

 

About You

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of technical financial planning work experience.
  • Series SIE, 7 and 66, Life and Health licenses are required or must be obtained within 1 year from the employment start date.
  • CFP® Certification is preferred.

  • Possess excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, reliable execution, and excellent quality of work.
  • Can communicate clearly, respectfully, and with correct grammar in both written and verbal form.
  • Are proficient in using various technology platforms including Microsoft Suite, Zoom, RedTail, eMoney, Holistiplan, and more.
