The Job/What You'll Do:
The Director of Portfolio Execution will be an experienced strategic leader within the Project Management Office (PMO) responsible for managing and implementing a portfolio of projects to accelerate winning outcomes for AssetMark by delivering on the organizational strategy to grow and scale, and enable AssetMark to achieve our goals. This position will be responsible for optimizing project portfolios, collaborating with cross-functional teams, guiding product roadmaps, and championing best practices in PMO management. They will be responsible for the execution of the project portfolio including overall health, growth, adherence to governance protocols, maintenance, and profitability of a portfolio of projects that have been assigned to the PMO for development and execution. This includes project portfolio chartering, execution oversight, quality control, policy compliance, budget management, project closures, and continuous improvement The successful candidate will be accountable for leading and staffing a team of experienced program and project managers responsible for ensuring the timely and successful delivery of programs and projects, while achieving ROI and high project team engagement. Experience engaging at all levels of an organization is essential. Extensive experience leading complex, cross functional programs and projects, along with a proven track record and deep comprehension of portfolio execution management, is critical.
This is a full-time position in our Concord, CA office with a hybrid work schedule.

To qualify for the position of Director of Portfolio Execution in the PMO, the desired candidate must possess clear, documented experience in a senior leadership or senior PMO-based position in which candidate has demonstrated quantifiable results successfully managing large, complex portfolios of programs and projects:
Education & Experience:
Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $200,000-$230,000.
This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.

Responsibilities:
- Provide oversight and leadership for the project portfolio to execute corporate initiatives while maximizing value and return on investment.
- Collaborate with cross functional departments to manage and optimize enterprise-wide project capacity, resource allocation and utilization, and project launch sequencing based on business priorities and timelines.
- Drive the development and execution of comprehensive portfolio implementation plans based on business prioritization to meet strategic goals.
- Facilitate project chartering phase to define overall solution based on approved business case including project schedules, budgets, staffing requirements, milestones, deliverables, and ROI requirements.
- Oversee and manage execution phase schedules, forecasting, budgets, milestones, and deliverables for a portfolio of projects that meet business needs while building scale and reducing overall operating costs.
- Identify potential risks, develop risk mitigation strategies, and implement remediations as needed to ensure successful project delivery.
- Communicate with senior management, project stakeholders, and customers on portfolio financials, ROI performance, delivery status, risks, issues, and issue resolution.
- Supervise project post-completion auditing and issues identification and remediation.
- Measure project stakeholder and customer satisfaction levels via stakeholder-customer satisfaction surveys, analysis, evaluation. Work with PMO leaders to address issues and apply lessons learned to continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintain and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success and effectiveness of the project portfolio execution.
- Analyze KPI data to identify areas for enhancement and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the PMO, focusing on project execution efficiency.
- Accountable for PMO Charter metrics at two levels:
- Project: measured by ROI achievement, budget attainment, schedule variance, customer value, scope adherence, project audit results, and resource utilization.
- Individual: measured by project utilization, delivery responsibility, stakeholder feedback, policy compliance, position competence.
- Focus on client outcomes, problem solving, cooperating, and communicating with the rest of the organization to achieve shared success.
- Cultivate and maintain long-term, collaborative relationships with executive leadership, stakeholders, strategic business partners, development teams, and critical vendors to understand business needs, define and execute product roadmaps, and ensure software solutions meet or exceed expectations.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive understanding, certification, and compliance in all AssetMark PMO operations including project management tools, practices, policies, guidelines, and requirements.
- Govern the appropriate organization structure, goals, performance standards, compensation incentives, career development, and succession planning for PMO Portfolio Execution that drives high-performance corporate outcomes.
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, training, and performance management of an experienced team of program and project managers to execute vision for a highly effective and competitive PMO.
- Recruit and hire highly knowledgeable and experienced PMO resources to carry out the PMO organizational vision to be best in class PMO.
- Lead and mentor a highly engaged and high-performing team of professional project managers as measured by employee engagement scores above internal/external benchmarks.
- Cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the portfolio/project management function.
- Present concisely and thoughtfully while facilitating discussions that drive clarity.
- Foster adoption of the PMO vision across cross-functional leadership, team members, and stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
To qualify for the position of Director of Portfolio Execution in the PMO, the desired candidate must possess clear, documented experience in a senior leadership or senior PMO-based position in which candidate has demonstrated quantifiable results successfully managing large, complex portfolios of programs and projects:
- Deep comprehension of portfolio execution management, including budget management, policy compliance, and quality control.
- Deep experience owning and executing technology development projects including scoping, testing, systems go-live, and other similar technology project attributes.
- Demonstrated responsibility for professionally managing a minimum of $20,000,000 in project budget or project spend across the total experience listed above.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and align cross-functional teams, stakeholders, customers, and senior business leaders across various areas including user experience, technology, operations, risk management, legal, compliance, and other key partner areas to deliver business outcomes effectively.
- Effective leader and proven manager, able to balance the need for process and flexibility while playing a client focused role in the prioritization and shepherding of projects to delivery.
- Expert knowledge of Project Management and application development methodologies, tools and techniques including Waterfall and Agile.
- Prior experience successfully delivering change in a complex environment while managing competing environments and delivering projects.
- Proven ability to operate in a highly entrepreneurial, high-performance, and decentralized environment.
- Deep competence in project management tools including JIRA, Microsoft Project Professional, SharePoint, Microsoft Office Professional (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, Access, etc.), Adaptive, NetSuite, and Planview.
- Ability to follow PMO RACI policies and practices to ensure compliance and identify areas of non-compliance and remediation requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and train subordinate personnel to effectively manage career planning and drive high-performance corporate outcomes
- Ability to influence divergent functions and stakeholders to achieve required PMO and corporate objectives that meet or exceed project and customer expectations.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's or master's degree and/or equivalent work experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification, with additional professional certifications considered advantageous.
- Minimum twelve years of experience in a complex, project-intensive corporate environment with supervisory responsibility over PMO operations and/or supervisory responsibility over multiple large-scale technology or process improvement initiatives.
