Rembert Pendleton Jackson is currently recruiting for a Financial Advisor/Relationship Manager. The successful candidate requires strong financial planning, analytical, and business development skills. The RM provides clients guidance on portfolio allocation, security selection and implementation, and all financial planning issues including long-term goal identification, cash flow and wealth transfer strategies, charitable efforts, real estate activities, and legacy matters. The Relationship Manager manages, maintains and deepens relationships with the team’s clients to achieve consistent client service, develops new business, and promotes growth and profitability of the firm. RM will work to expand the team approach to service existing clients, and attract new.

 

The intended hire will be working closely with an existing advisor who plans to transfer his client base upon retirement.  This entails shadowing and absorbing the client service model for the existing book, then taking over as lead advisor within 3-5 years.  Thus, experience in financial advisory practices is required. 

 

Rembert Pendleton Jackson offers a wide range of investment advisory services to individual and institutional investors. Based in Falls Church, Virginia, the firm has been serving individual clients from around the nation’s capital and in over 45 states since 1974 and serving non-profit organizations since 1994. Collectively, the principals have over 210 years of experience in providing these services. We operate as SSB Wealth Management Inc., dba Rembert Pendleton Jackson, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sandy Spring Bank.

 

Major Job Accountabilities
 

  • Relationship Management:
     

As the primary point of contact, the RM is responsible for ongoing client communication and investment reviews. Supervises implementation of the investment strategy as outlined with client and provides financial planning advice on an ongoing basis.
 

  • Business Development:
     

Cultivates and maintains relationships with numerous sources of new business, including company officials, attorneys, accountants, and other centers of influence. Meets with prospects to explain company services. Prepares and delivers proposals to prospective clients. Maintains prospect tracking system and participates and supports development of the RPJ marketing program.
 

  • Investment Policy and Market Research:
     

Assists in the development of company short and long-term investment policies and strategies based on management investment philosophy and client investment objectives.

Keeps informed of developments in the security markets. Participates in Investment Committee meetings and decisions. Each member of the advisory staff is also a member of the firm Investment Committee.

 

Required Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
 

  • Position requires excellent analytical ability and problem solving skills, good judgement, and personal integrity. A bachelor’s degree or higher in finance or related field is required, a CFP certification is preferred. A thorough knowledge of stocks, mutual funds, U.S. Treasuries, agencies and municipal bonds is desired. A Series 65 license is required.
  • A minimum of five years work related experience is required, including experience in financial planning principles, advising, or as a client service professional or financial/investment analyst.
  • Requires extensive internal and external contacts at all levels involving a high degree of diplomacy, tact, judgment, timing and persuasion. Self-starter with strong organizational skills.
  • Professional and articulate with strong attention to detail. Ability to communicate complex information from diverse sources in an organized manner. Ability to write statements of broad policy. Ability to make effective presentations of proposals and recommendations before internal and external audiences at all levels.
  • High level problem-solving skills are required; problems are technically complex and require the collection, interpretation, and analysis of data from diverse sources.
  • Proficient computer skills including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and other financial planning software or platforms.
  • Must be able to qualify, obtain, and maintain necessary licensing requirements.

Specific Physical Requirements

Work requires reasonable mobility in and around the work area. Ability to use standard computer and phone systems is required

Working Conditions

Normal office environment where there is almost no discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise, or other disagreeable elements.

Work includes little or no potential exposure to hazardous conditions.

Must be able to travel to remote company and/or client locations.

Compensation Information

As a subsidiary of Sandy Spring Bank, compensation is one part of our total rewards package. Compensation within the range will depend on your skills, qualifications, education, experience, and location. Additionally, full-time and part-time positions may be eligible to participate in department or company-wide incentive plans.
