Wealth Planner

The Wealth Planner position is a unique opportunity to expand our client offerings at Crawford Investment Counsel (CIC). This is a new position for CIC and the firm is looking for a professional who can be strategic and instrumental in the development of the firm’s Financial Planning effort. It is expected that the individual will have the ability to think creatively and demonstrate strong leadership skills. The professional will both work directly with clients and mentor other professionals in various aspects of Financial Planning. This position will report to the Managing Director of Portfolio Management.  With the creation of this new position, CIC will enhance the services we provide to our clients in areas outside of investments, specifically reviewing deeper aspects of our clients’ financial and legal affairs.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Re: Wealth Planning  

Assist clients with planning and strategies for the following:

  • Retirement (pre and post) Income
  • Taxes
  • Estate and Trusts (with outside counsel)
  • Insurance
  • Complex incentive compensation (ie stock options, deferred compensation, etc)
  • RMDs

Re: Representation of CIC with centers of influence

  • Develop relationships with providers to current clients
  • Introduce clients to outside providers when necessary
  • Develop business opportunities from these channels
  • Assist with consolidation of assets efforts where appropriate

Re: Thought Leadership

  • Create thought leadership/content that highlights the importance of financial planning and how our investment strategies can complement it
    • ie ways to transfer wealth, lifetime exemption expiration, charitable vehicles, lower-risk strategies, etc.

Experience and Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the industry is required
  • CFP strongly preferred, JD a plus
  • Five to ten years of financial services experience preferred
  • Three to five years wealth planning preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook  required
  • A self-starter and a proactive collaborator with strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills
  • Ability to develop relationships across varied personality types
  • Exceptional and proactive communicator (verbal and written)
