Associate Advisor Role Description:

The Associate Advisor position is a key member of the firm’s Advisor Team and will have the primary responsibility of supporting the Lead Advisor manage existing client relationships in all areas related to their wealth enterprise. The Associate Advisor will work closely with the Lead Advisor and other members of the Advisor Team to prepare for client meetings and manage the implementation of solutions and/or action items from client meetings.  To be successful in this role, the Associate Advisor must have a strong understanding of wealth planning disciplines: estate planning, tax planning, risk management (insurance), family governance and succession planning, and cash flow analysis.  The Associate Advisor must also have a deep understanding of asset allocation, portfolio construction, investment vehicles, and have experience communicating investment performance, market updates, and portfolio recommendations to clients.  The Associate Advisor will work closely with other members of the Advisor Team and will be expected to manage the distribution and implementation of work amongst the Analyst and/or Associate.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Function as the primary contact for client relationships assigned by the Lead Advisor while providing support for all client relationships.
  • Coordinate with the Analyst and/or Associate all aspects of organizing and preparing for client meetings, ensuring that all material and analysis are complete, accurate, and prepared in a timely fashion.
  • Review and present market updates, portfolio performance and make tailored recommendations to clients within the context of their individual goals, risk tolerance, cash flow needs, and tax impact.
  • Review and provide feedback to the Analyst and/or Associate on investment analysis, performance reports and any client analysis or material prepared by the team.
  • Coordinate and manage the clients’ ecosystem of providers (bankers, attorneys, accountants, trustees, etc.) to support and execute client investment, tax, estate planning, and family governance strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of wealth planning disciplines for UHNW clients, financial services and investment industry.
  • Deep understanding of complex UHNW structures, both onshore and offshore. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members on multiple projects while consistently completing projects on time, efficiently and with the highest quality.
  • Ability to think critically on a strategic level, while keeping the ability to be detail-oriented, and taking initiative in problem-solving.
  • Ability to lead projects, delegate work, and coach Analyst and/or Associate through constructive feedback.
  • Ability to model integrity, leadership, and a fiduciary responsibility amongst clients and colleagues alike.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and client relationship skills.
  • Deep understanding of the equity and fixed income markets, assets classes, and portfolio construction
  • Deep understanding of investment strategies across alternative investments and private markets
  • Understanding of goals-based financial planning.

Required Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree (business, finance, economics or equivalent).
  • Bilingual Spanish/English oral and written proficiency required.
  • Professional designation CFP® preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of wealth management and investment advisory experience desired.
  • Series 65 registration or obtaining the series 65 registration within 3 months of hire.
  • Strong computer skills - Microsoft Suite, advanced Excel & PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience with Addepar and FactSet highly preferred.
  • Possess intellectual curiosity.
