About The Position
The role exists to help Bear Mountain Capital’s grow into a regional leader as a top-tier wealth management services firm. The Associate Investment Advisor role is a 3 year program tailored to develop and mentor new advisors who seek a life-long career in financial planning and investment management.
Associates will spend the first 18 months of the program supporting Bear Mountain Capital’s client service and operational needs. During this time the Associate will focus on supporting investment advisors in servicing new and existing clients. This includes responding to client e-mails, processing client requests, managing account paperwork and other administrative functions.
An Associate Investment Advisor will leverage their willingness to learn, as well as past work and academic experience to improve upon Bear Mountain Capital’s service and operations model. Associates will directly impact the client experience through:
- Building out financial plans and planning scenarios, using our online planning tools.
- Creating portfolio presentations, using in-house spreadsheet templates and client data to provide careful analysis of clients current and proposed investment strategies.
- Servicing existing and new clients by processing new account paperwork, entering, and managing information into our customer relationship management software, responding to client requests and working closely with advisors to provide a top-tier service experience.
- Sitting in on client meetings, taking notes and helping the advisor assess and organize the client’s financial life.
The second half of the 3 year program includes having a direct role in managing client relationships, building financial plans, and providing investment and financial advice to clients and prospective clients. The primary goal will be to develop the skills and confidence to become an Investment Advisor at the end of 3 years, managing and servicing your own client base. During this phase of the program Associate will do the following:
- Develop new client and prospective client relationships through client needs discovery, financial planning discussions, as well as investment strategy and allocation decisions.
- Create new professional connections through independent networking and outreach, seeking to develop long-standing relationships to help serve clients and drive referral activity.
- Manage every aspect of a client’s relationship from prospecting, to account opening, to ongoing servicing and monitoring.
As an Associate Investment Advisor you’ll be expected to pass your Series 65 exam and will be encouraged to continue your learning and development in the areas of financial planning, tax planning and/or financial analysis, as determined by you.
About You
- Undergraduate Degree: Required
- Experience: 1 – 5 years of work experience post undergraduate degree, is desired. More experienced candidates are also encouraged to apply
- Self-motivated: You have defined personal and professional goals and work hard to achieve them
- Willing to Learn: You should have a desire to improve skills through reading, training or other academic efforts, learning and growing in new areas, as needed
- Persistent: You are willing to push through obstacles and hurdles, to help organization improve and to create impacts on clients and prospective clients
- Service Minded: You maintain a focus on thoughtful handling of client affairs, pursuing client satisfaction as a primary goal
- Detail Oriented: You are willing and able to learn and manage data in multiple formats and mediums, including: Microsoft Word/Excel, Google Docs/Sheets, Salesforce and other systems, as needed.
- Technologically Savvy: You are comfortable leveraging technology in areas such as client relationship management systems (CRM), e-mail clients, spreadsheets, word processing documents, and others to stay on top of tasks
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $60,000/year, plus 30% revenue share generated by your assets under management (AUM)
- 401(k): Full 401(k) offering w/ employer matching of 100% up to 3% and 50% up to 5%
- Health Insurance: Full health insurance benefits, including dental
- Vacation Policy: Flexible (generally 3 weeks, including all major holidays)
- Parking: Employer paid parking in our office building, as this is an in-person/in-office role
- Professional Development: We will pay for additional training, dues and ongoing continuing education for the following designations: CFP, CFA, CPA and Series 65
