Background & Overview of Position

EverOak is a financial planning-centric asset management company based in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado. We are purposefully structured to minimize all inherent conflicts of interest common in our industry to create exceptional value for our clients and feel proud of the impact we make and legacy we leave. We operate as one unified and cohesive team, always with our focus on our firm’s “Just Cause”:

Advancing your financial health so you can boldly pursue your purpose

We provide fiduciary advice and guidance on $1B in assets. While we are a mature business, we still maintain a start-up type workplace environment with a deeply ingrained collaborative culture. There would be no sales expectation nor a specific requirement to cultivate any new business. A benchmark for success would be consistently developing detailed and accurate financial plans to drive a positive impact on people's life-trajectories and executing portfolio management trades and tasks in a high quality, precise way. Our goal is for you to become an integral part of our team, helping drive our just cause forward in our largest business segments.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience (requirement)
  • Undergraduate or advanced college degree (requirement)
  • Financial Planning experience (eMoney preferred)
  • Asset Management/Trading experience (preferred)
  • CFP® or FPQP preferred
  • Extensive Excel experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to problem-solve and be self-motivated to do exceptional work

Responsibilities

This role would include some client interaction, as needed, but would be more internal in nature, predominantly interacting with EverOak advisors and staff. You would be expected to work toward a strong understanding of EverOak’s asset management and financial planning processes and philosophies, while familiarizing yourself intimately with the technology tools we use to manage assets at scale and create and integrate comprehensive financial plans. Our hope is also that you would contribute to our amazing team culture in your own way as we all strive to grow personally and professionally together.

Paraplanner

The Paraplanner is primarily responsible for working with the lead advisor(s) and sometimes clients throughout the financial planning process: initial plan creation, execution of action items for implementation, and ongoing plan updates/analysis. These responsibilities will be enacted in conjunction with the lead advisor and planning department’s guidance. The position requires comfort with client interactions, understanding of financial planning and investment management, and the organizational ability to track and follow-through with important tasks over various time periods.  We would estimate that this role would comprise approximately 55% of your time.

Primary paraplanner responsibilities:

  • Absolute attention to detail to reaffirm trust and confidence in the plan
  • Client contact as needed to gather information
  • Data entry for financial plan creation
  • Utilize our planning approach in developing and updating existing financial plans
  • Review of planning work with lead advisor prior to presentations or client reviews
  • Follow-up communication and task tracking
  • Streamline internal planning process for efficiency and accuracy

Portfolio Management Associate

You would be the Central Trader for all client investment accounts at EverOak. Advisors would send you trading tasks to execute (i.e. rebalancing, placing one-off buy/sell trades, customized trades to limit tax implications, raise cash requests or invest new deposits, customized trades to match a specific strategy or planning implementation item…etc). We would estimate that this job would comprise approximately 25% of your time.

Outside of trading, you would assist with other important portfolio management duties, such as:

  • Reviewing client portfolios for relevant data to add to annual review agendas so advisors are aware in advance of the meeting (i.e. realized gain/losses, portfolio drift, other tax implications, rebalance reports…etc)
  • Executing model portfolio adjustments
  • Compiling and organizing portfolio and model data for advisors to analyze
  • Updating in-house investment dashboard for advisor quick-reference
  • Utilization of third party research and analysis tools (Ycharts, Zacks, Morningstar, Argus…)

We would estimate that these duties would comprise 15% of your time.

Technology Point Person

This ancillary but important role would be to serve as our team’s point-person for all tech related issues, helping the team work effectively with our tech support vendor as they often need someone in-house to communicate with. This may include communicating any tech issues or needs to our tech vendor and working with them remotely to solve the issue. You wouldn’t be expected to lead the direction or strategy of tech at the firm nor would you be expected to assist from a technical standpoint. This role would simply be the point-person to help manage projects/tasks and communicate tech needs between team members and our tech vendor. Our estimation is that this role would only comprise about 5% (or less) of your time.

EverOak Benefits

  • Unlimited PTO (notice in advance and completing all work at an excellent-level are the only requirements)
  • Monthly PTO for volunteering
  • EverOak pays for licensing/certification education and maintenance costs as well as CE events
  • Healthcare, dental, vision, and disability insurances
  • We offer a total 7% match and non-elective 401(k) contribution structure while all plan fees are paid by EverOak
  • Corporate bonus structure
  • Flexible work schedule

Company

When it comes to building wealth, our first thoughts don’t run to nature—but the oak might be our lesson on the hill. Its roots go deep, an iron grip against the wind. Its leaves parade from the green of summer to the umber of fall—and back again. And deep inside, its rings tell its story. Thick through times of sun and shower. Thin but tenacious in times of stress and drought.

Yet a single ring is not its grandeur. It’s the accumulation of seasons and steadfast endurance that muscle its height. Spread its girth. And mature its acorns—the legacies of its future.

That is EverOak. Enduring wealth across the economic seasons of life. Cultivated strategies of analysis and opportunity. And the acumen of advisors who nurture financial plans with your good in mind. Even the good to enjoy wealth’s greatest benefit: the freedom to pursue your purpose.
